About Me

Brooke Stanton moved to Manhattan straight out of college because her sister lived there and she could crash on her couch. Six years later (after a quick jaunt in London), she moved to Los Angeles and wrote a column for Examiner.com and a popular humor blog about the highs and lows of IVF. But her true passion is writing fiction.

She’s the bestselling and award winning author of the Bloom Sisters snd Forbidden Romance series. And now calls Dallas, Texas home. Yee-haw.

On writing

My headshot above perfectly reflects how fabulous I look when I write. Just like Carrie Bradshaw, I have my stylist in the wings with her make-up brush and curling iron ready. I never write in my pajamas in bed, my teeth unbrushed and my glasses still on. And my toddler and newborn never interrupt me when I'm in the grips of inspiration. Writing is so glamorous. Words just flow from my mind and onto my laptop. I never get writer's block. And I never have a shitty first draft - what was Anne Lamott talking about?!

On authors and books I love

I’m a fan of all types of authors and genres, though anything with a bit of Darcy-esque love story really piques my interest. But nothing too gag-worthy sweet.

Right now I'm crazy about Jojo Moyes and Liane Moriarty. My favorite book by each of them is One Plus One and Big Little Lies, respectively.

Emily Giffin, Marian Keyes, and Sophie Kinsella are my favorite ChickLit authors- I'm sorry, I mean Women's Fiction. ChickLit is so 1999. My favorite books by these authors are Something BorrowedSomething BlueThe One and OnlySushi for BeginnersLucy Sullivan is Getting MarriedTwenties GirlCan You Keep a Secret?, and Confessions of a Shopaholic.

I also love Pam Jenoff, Karen White, Meg Cabot, and Jane Green.

Books I read the CliffsNotes to in high school, but later read for real and now I love: Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, The Handmade's Tale, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Great Gatsby, Much Ado About Nothing, Fahrenheit 451, The Joy Luck Club, and all books by Jane Austen.

I'd love to hear from you!
